Social & Racial Equity: African Americans of Alexandria, VA: Beacons of Light in the 20th Century

AHA member Jane King will lead this group discussion of the book African Americans of Alexandria, Virginia: Beacons of Light in the Twentieth Century, with foreword by former Mayor Bill Euille. The book reports the experiences of 67 Black residents of the city whose stories are important to an understanding of the city's history. Bill Euille says, "I believe the recognition of these individuals is long overdue and that, as it brings attention and honor to lives too long kept out of our city's public histories, it helps bring balance to the record of who and what we are."
